The Qatar Stars League has formally announced a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the QFA and Qatar Players Association (QPA) ahead of the new 2016/2017 QSL season. The deal will signal close ties between the QSL and QPA as the newly formed body which was created to serve the interests of all football players in Qatar. The deal was signed on the sidelines of the 2016/2017 QSL league launch ceremony held at the Sheraton Hotel, Doha.
Hani Ballan CEO of the QSL was present at the signing event along with Chairman of the Qatar Player Association Salman Al Ansari. Speaking at the signing of the deal, Hani Ballan said: “This is a huge step ahead, to show a key partnership between us and the players association.”
Whilst Salman Al Ansari stressed the amount of organization that went into creating the QPA; “The QPA QSL is proud of this agreement, it took eight months to come to an agreement from all sides, and I would like to thank the QFA and QSL for their help in this issue. We are a genuine voice for the players in Qatar, and a key organization in resolving any potential player disputes between the league and QFA.”
The Qatar Stars League season is set to kickoff on the 16th of September when Al Ahli takes on Al Gharafa on Thursday the 15th of September at Al Ahli Stadium.
